Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Bryce Hoynoski

Hatters Edged by UNF

Stetson men's soccer fell behind early and could not recover, falling to UNF, 1-0, Saturday night at the Athletic Training Center.
 
The Hatters (0-4-2, 0-3-2 ASUN) came out firing to begin the match. Stetson took a pair of shots and three corner kicks within the first five minutes of play.
 
The Ospreys (4-2-2, 2-1-2 ASUN) quickly turned the momentum in their favor in the 7th minute. Bryson Smith scored on an assist from Cormac Begley, and UNF held on the rest of the way.
 
Stetson head coach Emmett Rutkowski made no excuses for his team.
 
"With such a young team, being consistent is really important if you want to be a good team," Rutkowski said. "It doesn't matter, young or old, you have to come ready to play."
 
Stetson outshot UNF 11-7. Maxime Allione and Lewis Scattergood each took three shots to lead the Hatters.  
 
As the regular season winds down, Rutkowski expects a response from his team.
 
"A big part of our culture is problem-solving," Rutkowski said. "We have to be better."
 
The Hatters will head to Fort Myers next weekend to close out the regular season at FGCU, Friday, April 2, at 7 p.m.
