Hatters Split With UNF on Saturday

Nyah Morgan homers and drives in three

DeLand, Fla. -- Nyah Morgan went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI as Stetson defeated North Florida 9-5 in game 1 of an ASUN doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Patricia Wilson Field.

The Ospreys (10-16, 2-5 ASUN) took the second game 6-1.

Marissa Baxter joined Morgan with a solo home run of her own as the Hatters (5-13, 1-7) improved to 3-1 at home this season.

Stetson pounded out 21 hits on the day, including four each from Morgan and Alyssa Gilman.  Brianna Clary went 3-for-4 in the opener with a career-high three stolen bases.

In game 1, the Hatters battled back from 2-0 and 3-1 deficits, scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Baxter's bases-loaded single eventually plated two runs (after a UNF error) to give Stetson the lead for good.

Chloe Temples picked up the win in the circle, allowing four earned runs over seven innings.  She walked none and struck out four.

Baxter homered in game 2 to account for Stetson's lone run.  The Hatters collected 11 hits in the game but left 12 runners on base.  Gilman went 3-for-3 at the plate.

Shannon Glover homered for UNF.

The teams will play the rubber game of their series at 1 p.m. Sunday.
