Hatters Fall 2-1 in Series Finale

Lizzie Shubert goes 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI

DeLand, Fla. -- Regan Hermeling's pinch-hit sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning lifted UNF to a 2-1 victory over Stetson Sunday afternoon at Patricia Wilson Field.

With the victory, the Ospreys (12-16, 4-5 ASUN) won the ASUN Conference series two games to one.

The Hatters (5-14, 1-8) grabbed an early 1-0 on Lizzie Shubert's RBI single in the bottom of the first.  The Ospreys tied the game in the third when Kayla Harper scampered home while Taylor Engman was thrown out attempting to steal second.

The starting pitchers kept the score tied through six until UNF took the lead in the seventh.  Halle Arends picked up the win for the Ospreys, allowing four hits and one run in seven innings of work.  Chloe Temples also went the distance, allowing seven hits and one earned run.

At the plate, Shubert went 2-for-3 with a single and a double to lead the Hatters.  Riley Russell stole two bases and scored a run.  Brianna CLary hit her first triple of the season.

The Hatters will host Jacksonville on Friday and Saturday at Patricia Wilson Field.
