Jacksonville Takes Softball Series Opener 7-2

The teams combined to hit four home runs

DeLand, Fla. -- Taking advantage of a unusually windy conditions, Jacksonville hit three home runs en route to a 7-2 victory over Stetson Friday evening at Patricia Wilson Field.

Caroline Watson hit two home runs for the Dolphins (18-10, 6-4 ASUN), who won the opener of a 3-game ASUN series.

Lizzie Shubert hit a two-run blast in the bottom of the first inning to lead the Hatters (5-15, 1-9). It was her fourth home run of the season and 19th of her career.

Shubert and Briana Clary each had two hits for Stetson.  Samantha Poehlman also went deep for the Dolphins.

The teams will meet again for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday.  The Hatters will honor their 2020 seniors prior to the game.
