The Stetson baseball team will return to action at Melching Field tonight, opening a three-game weekend series against in-state rival South Florida.
Â
Games on Friday and Saturday are scheduled to be played at the Hatters' home field. First pitch on Friday is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start. Both games will be available to watch on Hatter Vision.
Â
Sunday's game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start at USF Baseball Stadium in Tampa. That game is slated for an ESPN+ broadcast.
Â
Stetson comes into the weekend with a perfect 10-0 record and is the only team in NCAA Division I to have reached double-figure wins so far this season. It is the 17
th 10-or-more game win streak in Stetson Baseball history. The most recent such streak was the school-record 18-game win streak in 2018 that propelled the Hatters to the NCAA Super Regional.
Â
The Bulls enter play this weekend with a 4-3 record on the year. USF was swept by FGCU on the opening weekend of the season, but bounced back by sweeping four games from Florida A&M last weekend. Like the Hatters, USF faces a March schedule loaded with top teams, including three more games against FGCU, three against Florida Atlantic and a three-game series at Texas Tech.
Â
The Hatters are scheduled to send redshirt freshman RHP
Nick Durgin (1-0, 2.08) to the mound for Friday's series opener. He will be opposed by USF redshirt freshman RHP Jack Jasiak (1-0, 0.68).
Â
Saturday's game is set to pit Stetson freshman RHP
Jovan Gill (2-0, 0.00) against USF redshirt sophomore Brad Lord (1-1, 4.22). On Sunday Stetson will send redshirt junior
Chris Gonzalez (2-0, 1.88) to the mound. The Bulls have not yet announced a starter for that game, but will likely use either redshirt junior right-hander Baron Stuart (1-0, 4.50) or redshirt senior right-hander Collin Sullivan (0-0, 10.50).
Â
Rain is expected across the entire state of Florida on Saturday, so stay tuned to GoHatters.com and @StetsonBaseball on Twitter for any updates on game times.
