Dallis Moran Selected by Cardinals in 16th Round of MLB Draft

DeLAND, Fla. — Stetson right-handed pitcher Dallis Moran has been selected by the St. Louis Cardinals with the 474th overall pick in the 16th round of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft.

Moran becomes the latest Hatter to begin his professional career, continuing a strong run of MLB Draft success for the Stetson baseball program. His selection comes one year after four Hatters were drafted in 2025, further cementing the program's reputation as one of the nation's premier developers of professional talent.

The Cardinals' selection of Moran also marks the second consecutive year the organization has drafted a Stetson pitcher, following Ty Van Dyke, who was chosen in the 10th round of the 2025 MLB Draft.

During his lone season in DeLand, Moran made 20 appearances out of the bullpen while earning one start. He posted a 5.46 ERA, struck out 43 batters in 28.0 innings, and recorded three saves, averaging nearly 14 strikeouts per nine innings.

Moran finished the season pitching some of his best baseball. He struck out a season-high seven batters over 3.0 scoreless innings in a victory at Queens on May 15 after fanning five over 2.1 scoreless innings against Queens on April 12. He also turned in scoreless outings against UCF, North Florida, West Georgia and North Dakota State throughout the season.

The Cardinals become the next stop in Moran's baseball journey as he begins his professional career, joining a growing list of Hatters to hear their names called on MLB Draft day.

With Moran's selection, Stetson continues to build on its recent success of producing professional talent. The Hatters have now had five players selected over the past two MLB Drafts, further strengthening a legacy that has consistently developed players capable of competing at the highest level of professional baseball.
