Hatters Fall to UNF in Overtime

Stetson women's soccer suffered a heart-breaking loss to North Florida in overtime, falling to the Ospreys, 1-0, Saturday night at the Athletic Training Center.
 
After a scoreless affair through 90 minutes, UNF (5-0, 2-0 ASUN) put the match away quickly in only the 93rd minute. After a diving save by Ashleigh Wise on a shot by Haynes Grant, Carmel Oliviera scored on a quick rebound. Grant was credited with the assist.
 
The Hatters (1-2-1, 0-1-1 ASUN) were the better team for much of the night, dominating possession through most of regulation. Stetson led the match in shots, 15-11. Head coach Chris Bergman was proud of his team's effort.
 
"We played fantastic tonight," Bergmann said. "We did everything but put the ball in the back of the net."
 
It was a night of missed opportunities for the Hatters.
 
"You have got to finish your chances at the end of the day," Bergmann said. "We had great looks all night, we just have to put them away."
 
Lily Truong and Jackie Fiacco led the Hatters with four shots each on the night. Wise made four saves in the match.
 
Next up, the Hatters will host a rematch with Jacksonville, Saturday, March 13, at 7 p.m.
