Hatters Fall Twice at The Spring Games

Big Innings Prove Costly

Leesburg, Fla. -- On a day that started at 10 a.m. and ended one minute past midnight, Stetson fell 7-4 to South Dakota and 5-2 to Central Michigan Saturday at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex.

Each game featured one big inning that proved costly. South Dakota scored six runs in the top of the seventh and Central Michigan scored all five of its runs in the bottom of the third.

Alyssa Gilman had four hits on the day and Lizzie Shubert drove in three runs to lead the Hatters (2-6).

A 7-hour weather delay played a role in the late night finish.

The Hatters will host South Dakota in a doubleheader at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Patricia Wilson Field.
