Hatters Edged in 10 Innings by UNF

Chloe Temples pitches a gem in the circle

Jacksonville, Fla. -- Logan Jackson's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted UNF to a 2-1 victory over Stetson Sunday afternoon at the UNF Softball Complex.

With the international tie-break in effect, the Ospreys (17-20, 9-9 ASUN) used a sac bunt and a sac fly to bring home Brittany Sundermeier with the winning run.  The victory gave UNF a 2-1 series win.

The loss spoiled a 10-inning gem by Chloe Temples, who allowed just five hits, no walks, and no earned runs.  She retired 13 in a row at one point and 16 of the final 17 batters she faced. Her 9.2 innings pitched was a career high.

Elizabeth Jackson went 3-for-4 to lead the Hatters (8-21, 3-12). Riley Russell registered two hits and stole a career-high three bases.  Marissa Baxter also recorded a a single and a double as Stetson outhit UNF 8-5. However, the Hatters left 12 runners on base, including eight in scoring position.

Stetson scored its run in the sixth inning on an RBI ground out by Danielle Diaz.

The Hatters will return home next weekend to host FGCU at Patricia Wilson Field.
