Hatters Meet UNF in ASUN Quarterfinals

Stetson women's soccer will begin play in the ASUN Women's Soccer Championship this weekend as the Hatters face UNF at 1 p.m. Saturday in Jacksonville.  

Stetson (1-6-1, 0-5-1 ASUN) battled toe-to-toe with UNF in two matchups this season. The Ospreys edged the Hatters, 1-0, each time including one overtime contest on March 6 in DeLand. Stetson also held UNF scoreless through 70 minutes on March 28 in Jacksonville.

The Ospreys (9-1, 6-0 ASUN) finished first in the ASUN South Division with a 6-0 league record.  UNF has allowed the fewest goals in the ASUN, and they rank second in the conference in scoring.

The Hatters average 11.6 shots per match this season. Two Hatters, Lily Truong and Jackie Fiacco, rank in the ASUN top 10 in shots per contest. Stetson has outshot opponents, 93-80 on the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Ashleigh Wise has started seven matches this season for the Hatters.  She made nine total saves in the two matches against UNF.

Saturday's quarterfinal winner will advance to the semifinal round on Thursday, April 15 in Kennesaw Ga.  If the Hatters win, they will advance to face the highest remaining seed in the North Division.  The ASUN Championship will be played on April 17.  The winner receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
