Mark Weaver Joins Hatters Communications Staff

DeLand, Fla. – Stetson University Athletics has added Mark Weaver to the Athletics Communications staff as an Athletics Communications Assistant.
 
Weaver comes to Stetson from Lynchburg University in Virginia where he served as a graduate assistant.  great experience and enthusiasm in the field of athletic communications. He has a passion for collegiate athletics and having come from two NCAA Division III schools prior to Stetson, he is excited for the opportunity to work at the NCAA Division I level. 
 
"I am excited to have Mark joining our athletics family here at Stetson University," Ricky Hazel, Associate Director of Athletics for Communications, Licensing and Branding, said. "We had a tremendous amount of interest in this position, but Mark's passion for college athletics, as well as his experience at two of the top Division III programs in the nation separated him from the field.
 
"During the process to identify the right person for this position, Mark impressed all of the coaches he will work with him for his enthusiasm, his work history and for his desire to become a part of the Stetson family. I can't wait to see all that Mark is able to accomplish in the future in his efforts to support our coaches and student-athletes."
 
A native of Poughkeepsie N.Y., Weaver is a 2019 graduate of Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa., where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communications with a concentration in sports media. This past May, Weaver completed his Master of Business Administration at University of Lynchburg where he served as the Graduate Assistant Sports Information Director.

"I am incredibly excited to start working for Stetson athletics," Weaver said. "Having come from two small Division III schools, I am confident that I can bring new and creative ideas to Stetson to promote the student-athletes and programs I will work with. My experience as a graduate assistant, and as a collegiate athlete, have given me a great appreciation for collegiate athletics and helped me hone my passion for communications."
 
Weaver was a member of the Susquehanna baseball and track & field teams, competing as a pitcher and a sprinter for the RiverHawks. While at Susquehanna, Weaver was employed in the sports information office, was a member of the Phi Mu Delta fraternity, and was one of two men's basketball student managers.
 
At Stetson, Weaver will work with the Hatters' men's and women's soccer, tennis and rowing teams in addition to serving as the primary contact for the women's lacrosse and men's basketball programs.
