Hatters Sweep Bethune-Cookman To Conclude Non-Conference Play

Beatriz Vossen hits .533 with 10 kills

DeLand, Fla. -- Elena Djokovic recorded 11 kills and 11 digs as the Hattters capped off the Stetson Invitational with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-17) victory over Bethune-Cookman Saturday evening at the Edmunds Center.

Stetson registered 44 kills and hit .314 to complete non-conference play with a 5-7 mark.  The Hatters also recorded eight aces.

"We just played a clean game," Stetson head coach Yang Deng said.  "We were also able to have some of our younger players get some experience on the court.  Bethune-Cookman put up a good fight, but we were able to continue to play at a consistent level."

Djokivic recorded her fifth double-double of the season to lead the way.  Beatriz Vossen added 10 kills while hitting at a .533 clip.  Nyah Molina and Grace Asleson split time at setter.  Molina tallied 21 assists and Asleson dished out 12.  Alejandra Perez led the back row with 13 digs.

Molina was named to the all-tournament team.

The Hatters improved to 61-6 all-time vs. Bethune-Cookman and 2-0 this season.

Stetson will now prepare for the start of conference play next weekend in Jacksonville, Ala.  Billed as a divisional crossover weekend, the Hatters will face Jacksonville State, North Alabama and Central Arkansas on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday respectively.
