Hatters Sweep Central Arkansas To Complete 2-1 Weekend

Stetson Off to Its Best ASUN Start Since 2014

Jacksonville, Ala. -- Kaylee Oscarson registered eight kills, three blocks and a .462 attack percentage as Stetson defeated Central Arkansas 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-20) Sunday afternoon at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Buoyed by a strong defensive effort, the Hatters (7-8, 2-1 ASUN) completed their first ASUN crossover weekend with a 2-1 mark. Stetson hit just .158 for the match but produced 61 digs and seven blocks over the three sets. The Hatters are now off to their best start in league play since 2014.

One day after collecting a school-record 32 kills, Elena Djokovic led the Hatters with 12 kills and 16 digs. It was her sixth double-double of the season.

Both teams came into the match riding highs from big wins on Saturday.  Stetson survived a tough 5-set battle with North Alabama while Central Arkansas swept perennial league power Kennesaw State.

The Hatters were the aggressors Sunday, hitting .303 in set first set and breaking open a 5-5 game with a 13-2 run.

The Bears (3-9, 1-2) built leads of 12-7 and 18-14 in set two before the Hatters battled back.  Oscarson delivered three kills and two blocks to help push the Hatters out to a 23-20 lead.  Central Arkansas then scored three straight to tie the set at 23, but after a Stetson timeout, Djokovic posted back-to-back kills to give the Hatters a 2-0 lead in the match.

Yamelis Mojica came off the bench in the third set to give the Hatters a lift.  The Hatter junior checked in with Stetson leading 9-8 and collected five kills down the stretch to help secure the win.

Nyah Molina dished out 33 assists and led the team with four blocks including a pair of solo rejections.  Alejandra Perez produced a huge 20-dig effort as the Hatters held the Bears to an .085 attack pct.

Lily Taylor led Central Arkansas with six kills.

The Hatters will visit ASUN South Division co-leader UNF (3-0 ASUN) at 7 p.m. Friday night.
