Dolphins Hold Off Hatters 63-51

McNeal scored seven of her 10 points in the fourth quarter

Jacksonville, Fla. -- Stetson cut a 12-point fourth quarter deficit all the way down to three, but Jacksonville held on down the stretch for a 63-51 victory over the Hatters Wednesday night at Swisher Gym.

Tatiana Streun led the Hatters (8-8, 1-2 ASUN) with 14 points, while Jamiya Turner scored 11 and Khamya McNeal chipped in 10.

DeShari Graham scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Dolphins (8-5, 1-1).

Stetson's only lead in the game came early on at 7-6.  Jacksonville led by four after 1 and by eight at the break.

In the third quarter, Turner's layup cut Stetson's deficit to 41-35 midway through the frame. The Dolphins closed the period on a 6-0 run, however, to lead 47-35 after 3.

Stetson became the aggressor in the fourth quarter as McNeal scored the first five points of the period.  Turner followed with a transition bucket, and Streun buried her third triple of the night to pull Stetson within five at the 7:52 mark.  McNeal struck again moments later to make it a 52-49 game with 5:50 to go, but that would be as close as the Hatters would get.

Streun reached double figures for the fifth straight game, going 3-for-5 from the arc. She now has seven triples in the past two games.

Stetson held a 35-28 advantage on the glass but turned it over 23 times. JU capitalized with a 16-3 margin in points off turnovers.

The Hatters will return home to face Kennesaw State at 1 p.m. Saturday.
