Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Athletics Communications

Hatters top Atlantis University for third straight win

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University women's tennis team captured its third straight win Saturday morning as the Hatters topped Atlantis University 7-0 at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. 

For the second day in a row, Stetson swept its competition as the Hatters (3-0) won every set and earned all seven points after playing out all their matches. Stetson made quick work of Atlantis in doubles action as Nadejeda Maslova and Cheri Darley took their match 6-0. Laetitia Rizk and Laia Pasini also held their opponents off the board as the pair also won their match 6-0. 

In singles play, Maslova and Darley continued their success on the day competing on courts one and two, respectively. Maslova took her match in two sets 6-1 and 6-4 while Darley topped her opponent 6-1 and 6-0. The backend of both lineups competed hard as it took No. 4-singles Elodie Foster and No. 6-singles Olivia Talbert a 7-5 decision in set two for each to secure a 2-0 victory. On court five, Pasini needed a 7-6 decision to secure her first set before the junior cruised to a 6-0 win in set two. 

"It was good to get some matches in this week under freezing conditions," said Hatters head coach Travis Sandlant. "We had a lot of players get some match time this weekend which is always good to see." 

Stetson's women's tennis team will return to the courts on Friday, Feb. 4 as the Hatters host Florida A&M University. First serve is set for 10 a.m. and will be streamed on Facebook live.
