Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Athletics Communications

Hatters top Florida A&M 7-0, remain undefeated

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University women's tennis remained undefeated in non-conference action Friday morning as the Hatters shutout Florida A&M University 6-0 at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. 

The Hatters (4-0) opened Friday's match with a sweep in doubles play as Noa Cohen and Anais Gabriel topped Adrienne Clayton and Claudia Sumaia 6-0 to start the day. On court one, Elodie Foster and Alanna DiFrancesco defeated Aylen Hubeaut and Sierra Sandy, giving Stetson a 1-0 edge headed into singles play. 

Stetson continued its success in singles action as DiFrancesco extended the Hatters lead to 2-0 with a pair of 6-0 decisions against Clayton. Cohen followed DiFrancesco with a pair of 6-1 decisions against Sumaia to put the Hatters in front 3-0. Freshman Cheri Darley sealed the Hatters win as the U.K. native downed Haleigh Porter 6-1 and 6-4 to earn the Hatters' fourth point on the day. 

Stetson has a quick turnaround as the Hatters prepare to take on Troy University on Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
