LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Stetson dropped a 3-0 decision to Bellarmine Thursday night at Owlsey B. Frazier Stadium.
Â
The Knights struck early after looking dangerous early on. At the 10:15 mark, the BU got on the board with Alexa Orozco redirecting Zenia Nava's corner kick past Hatter goalkeeper
Ashleigh Wise.
Â
After a bit of back-and-forth play, Bellarmine sent in a cross that deflected off
Avery Wise's arm in the goal box for a penalty kick. Sarah Kraus strode up and despite a correct guess on her diving attempt, Ash. Wise was unable to stop the attempt [2-0]. The score line remained unchanged through the half.
Â
Stetson responded with a formation change and more pressure in the second half playing deeper in the offensive third, but unable to apply pressure onto BU goalkeeper Elyssa Francis.
Â
After a foul by Gabby Padilla, what appeared to be an innocuous free kick was played in the box,
Sydney McKee mishit the ball off her head, and Wise was unable to keep the ball out of the net for the third tally for the home side [3-0], in a score that would hold to full time.
Â
Stetson women's soccer will return to action Sunday for the final game of the Kentucky road trip, playing at Eastern Kentucky with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
