Hargrove, Morgan-Elliott Earn ASUN Weekly Awards

ATLANTA - Stetson junior forward Mali Morgan-Elliott (Orlando, Fla.) has been named ASUN Newcomer of the Week, while rookie guard Alyssa Hargrove (Huber Heights, Ohio) has been named ASUN Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Morgan-Elliott earned her first weekly honor from the ASUN after coming off the bench to help Stetson win its final two regular season games. On Thursday, she scored 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting in a 75-64 win at Kennesaw State. She went 3-for-4 from 3-point range, hitting three straight triples during the second quarter. On Saturday, Morgan-Elliott registered six points, one block and one steal in a 59-47 win over UNF. She shot 60 percent from the floor and 50 percent from the arc for the week as the Hatters improved to 10-1 in their last 11 games.

Hargrove earned her third Freshman of the Week honor and her fourth weekly honor of the season overall after averaging 9.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in the two Stetson wins.  She scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds in the road win at Kennesaw State, then netted six points with eight rebounds and three steals in the home win over UNF.  She has now scored in double figures in six of her last 10 games. 

Hargrove becomes the fourth Hatter all-time to earn three ASUN Freshman of the Week awards.

Stetson (18-11) will be the No. 3 East seed will face No. 6 West seed Bellarmine (4-23) in the first round of the 2022 ASUN Conference Championship Wednesday night in DeLand.  Tip-off at the Edmunds Center is set for 6 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN+.  The winner will advance to face No. 2 West seed North Alabama at 4:30 p.m. ET Sunday.
