Second Half Surge Lifts Hatters Past Lipscomb 61-50

Stetson Wins Its Fourth in a Row

Nashville, Tenn. -- Stetson broke open a close game with a 14-0 run midway through the third quarter and held on for a 61-50 victory over Lipscomb Thursday night at Allen Arena.

Yazz Wazeerud-Din, Jamiya Turner and Kiya Turner each scored 13 points as the Hatters (12-10, 5-4 ASUN) won their fourth game in a row.

Stetson held Lipscomb to just 20 first-half points and 31 percent shooting for the game.

"Loved our defensive effort," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "Lipscomb is hard to guard. They shoot they 3 very well. I thought the third quarter was the difference in the game.  The basket opened up for us. We hit some shots, made some plays, but overall, our defense was great for 40 minutes."

Stetson's third quarter run turned a 29-25 game into a 43-25 lead. Lipscomb was able to close the gap to 5 in the fourth quarter but would pull no closer.

Wazeerud-Din hit three triples and landed in double figures for the 12th time this season. Kiya Turner scored seven of her 13 down the stretch, while Jamiya Turner collected 10 rebounds to record her second straight double-double.

Jalyn Holcolm led the Bisons (8-13, 3-5 ASUN) with 10 points.

With the victory, the Hatters moved to within a half-game of third place Jacksonville in the ASUN East Division.

Stetson will look for its fifth straight win Saturday afternoon at Central Arkansas. Tip-off in Conway is set for 2 p.m. ET with live coverage on ESPN+.
