2022 Football Schedule Features 7 Home Games

The 2022 Stetson football schedule will be a busy one around Spec Martin Stadium with seven of the 11 games on the schedule slated to be played on the Hatters' home field.

In what will be the Hatters' 10th season since bring back the football program, Stetson will be at home throughout the month of September with four home games.

"We consider ourselves to be DeLand's home team, and we are excited to be able to play in front of our home fans four times to open the season this fall," Hatters' head coach Brian Young said. "We are looking forward to providing our fans with an exciting brand of football with an attacking style on both sides of the ball.

"We expect our fans will be too busy standing and cheering to worry about using their seats, but everyone had better make sure to get your tickets early so you don't miss out on the action."

The Hatters will open with home games against Concordia University (Mich.) on September 3 and will follow with games against Louisiana Christian (Sept. 10), Princeton (Sept. 17) and Morehead State (Sept. 24).

It will be the first meeting for Stetson with Concordia, which is an NAIA program in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Cardinals posted a 9-2 record this past fall, losing in the quarterfinals of the NAIA national championship. Like Stetson, Concordia will be playing its 10th season of college football.

Stetson will play Louisiana Christian, formerly Louisiana College, for the second time. The Hatters defeated the Wildcats 58-13 during the 2019 season. LCU posted a 4-7 record this past fall as a member of the NAIA Sooner Athletic Conference.

The Hatters had their first encounter with Princeton this past season, falling to the Tigers 63-0 in New Jersey. Princeton went on to have a 9-1 record on the season, capturing the Ivy League title.

Stetson will close out the month with the Pioneer Football League opener against Morehead State. It will be just the second time in six meetings for the Eagles to visit DeLand. The Hatters dropped a heart-breaker to MSU this past season, falling 36-35 as the Eagles scored the winning points with 20 seconds left in the game.

The October schedule will get started with the always challenging trip out west to play San Diego on the first. The Hatters will return home to face annual rival Marist on Oct. 8 before having an off week. The break will be followed by a trip to play at Dayton on Oct. 22 before closing the month at home against Drake on Oct. 29. That will be homecoming week on the Stetson campus.

The Hatters will be on the road for the first two weeks of November, playing at defending PFL champion Davidson on Nov. 5 before making the first trip to play at the newest PFL foe, St. Thomas, in St. Paul, Minn., on Nov. 12. The regular season will come to a close on Nov. 19 when the Hatters host Presbyterian on Senior Day.

The FCS playoffs begin the week of Nov. 26. The PFL champion receives and automatic bid to compete for the FCS national championship.

The 2022 season will feature multiple promotions and events around home games. Those events include a John B. Bobblehead giveaway, a Hometown Heroes game, a salute to Teachers and Mental Health Awareness game in addition to Homecoming and Senior Day. Please check the online schedule at GoHatters.com for a full list.
