Friday night's baseball game between Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast was suspended in the top of the fourth inning with FGCU leading Stetson 5-0.
Lightning within eight miles of Melching Field chased the teams from the field and, with no opportunity to get the tarp down, the torrential rains that followed washed out the game.
The teams will resume play in their ASUN series opener on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. with FGCUÂ batting in the top of the fourth inning. The regularly scheduled game will follow the conclusion of the resumed game.
