DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University women's tennis team won its 10th match of the year Saturday afternoon as the Hatters topped College of Charleston 5-2 at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
The Hatters (10-1) secured a crucial point in doubles as Anais Gabriel and Noa Cohen notched a 6-0 win on court 3 to lead off the day. On court 1, Alanna DiFrancesco and Elodie Foster earned the Hatters the first point of the match as the pair won 6-2 over Halli Trinkle and Slade Coatzee.
Singles action proved to be more of a battle for the Hatters as three of the six matches went three sets. Noa Cohen secured a two-set victory on court 5 with two 6-3 wins to put Stetson up 2-0. On courts 3 and 4, Cheri Darley and DiFrancesco needed a little extra in their second sets as both came out on top 7-6 after hard-fought matches, giving the Hatters a 4-0 lead.
On court 1, Gabriel and Coatzee played a three-set match as Coatzee took the first set 7-5. Gabriel came back and took set two 6-2 before taking set three 7-5 in one of her hardest fought matches of the season.
The Hatters will be back on the court on Wednesday, March 10 as Stetson hosts UNC Greensboro for a midweek non-conference match. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
