Atlanta, Ga. -- Stetson University women's lacrosse senior Maria Snee was named the ASUN Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. 

Snee, a native of Bel Air, Md, helped the Hatters to a 1-1 split this past week as Stetson topped Presbyterian College 16-4 last Wednesday. The senior midfielder scooped four ground balls and caused two turnovers while also winning three draw controls in Stetson's blowout win. 

On Monday, the Hatters dropped a hard-fought game to East Carolina 18-8, but Snee scored a goal and caused one turnover with three ground balls and won six draw controls. 

The Bel Air native has started every game for the Hatters this season, totaling three goals and one assist for four points on the year while adding four turnovers and nine ground balls to her ledger. 

It is Snee's first career Defensive Player of the Week honor and ninth all-time for the Hatters. 

Snee and the Hatters will be back in action on Sunday, March 12 as Stetson hosts Long Island University at noon at the ATC.
