Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Weather causes suspension of Stetson match

Diogo Marques does register impressive straight set win

DeLAND, Fla. - It was a wild afternoon of weather that came through the area Wednesday, which caused several delays at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center, and the last at around 5 p.m. ended the Stetson University men's tennis match with Youngstown State as the Hatters were leading 2-0 and held the lead in many other singles matches.

Trying to get the match in, the decision to start with the singles matches was made and, weather permitting, the doubles matches would be competed. However, there were a couple of delays due to rain and lightning and four of the singles went unfinished. The match will not be resumed.

However, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win at singles No. 1 was Diogo Marques, while Tim Gennes, at No. 4, was ahead 6-3, 1-0 before his opponent retired due to injury.

Hatters who had won their first set but could not complete their matches before the end were No. 2 Tristan Dumas (6-3), No. 3 Ervin Eminefendic (7-5) and No. 6 Sami Ozzor (6-2).

Stetson (6-4) returns to the court on Friday to face UCF at the USTA National Campus starting at 5 p.m.
