JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Stetson University softball team committed a pair of costly errors in the third inning and the host Jacksonville Dolphins took full advantage, scoring four runs in the frame en route to a 6-1 victory on Friday night in the first game of a three-game ASUN series at Pruitt Softball Complex.
Jacksonville (12-23, 6-7 ASUN) had four players with two hits, while Kari Holzrichter led the team with three RBI, including a two-RBI single that capped the four-run third. She added another RBI single in the fifth after the Hatters cut into the Dolphins lead.
Stetson (19-23, 8-5 ASUN) scored its lone run in the fourth inning, when
Jordyn Stanfill led off the frame with a solo home run to right. It was her team-leading sixth long ball of the season. She has hit a home run in four of her last five games.
Danielle Diaz notched her sixth double of the year in the fourth andÂ
Haley Fox had two hits, including a single to center in the seventh to runners on second and first. However, they were left on base - as the Hatters stranded six in the contest.
In the circle,

The two teams will return to the field on Saturday to conclude the ASUN series with a doubleheader starting at 2 pm.
