Brian Young Completes Staff for 2022 Season

Two New Coaches and One Returner Join Existing Staff

Stetson University head football coach Brian Young announced today he has completed filling out his coaching staff for the 2022 season.

The Hatters have four full-time members of the staff returning from last fall and Young has promoted one of the quality control assistants from last year to full-time status. The newest members of the staff are Brian Sheppard, who serves as Stetson's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, receivers coach David Clowney and Brandon Wright, who was on the Stetson staff from 2012-15 and returns to work with the secondary.

Returning members of the coaching staff including Jonathan "JJ" Johnson, who was promoted to the role of defensive coordinator, defensive line coach Jeremy Perkovich, offensive line coach Jake Reed and running backs coach Harry Richards, who will also work with the tight ends. Jeffrey Eberhardt, who served as a quality control assistant for the defensive staff in 2021, has been elevated to the full-time staff and will work with Stetson's secondary.

Young also announced the addition of two quality control coaches for 2022. Ryan Favre will work with the tight ends while Hunter Todd will also work with the offensive coaching staff.

Director of Football Operations Andrea Perry also returns for her second year on the staff.

"It took a little longer than I had hoped to pull this staff together, but I wanted to make sure every coach I brought in to work with our program was going to be the right fit for us here at Stetson," Young said. "Each of these coaches understands how I want this program to run, what my expectations are for the young men in this program, and how I want this program to be represented.

"I am excited to see this group come together to help make Stetson football the best it can be while maintaining the goal of helping our players grow into outstanding young men – on the field, in the community and in the classroom. We want them to be champions in everything they do, and this staff understands how to make that happen."

Like Wright, Johnson is on his second tour of duty as Stetson, working on the Hatters' coaching staff from 2016-18 before returning last year. Perkovich and Richards joined the Stetson coaching staff in 2018 and Reid came on board in 2021.
