ATLANTA, Ga. - Announced Monday afternoon by the ASUNÂ office and voted on by the 12Â head coaches of the league, Stetson University softball's
Haley Fox has been named to the 2022 ASUN Softball All-Freshmen Team. She joins 10 other players from the conference on the postseason team and continues a string of at least one Hatter being selected to the team dating back to 2011.
Fox was one of five Hatters to start at least 45 games during the year, making 23 starts in right, 13 in center and nine as the designated hitter. She is currently third on the team in batting average (.301) and multi-hit games (8). She is one of three players with at least multiple three-hit games, setting her season-high with a 3-for-4 effort and a career-high three RBI in Stetson's 8-3 win over Maryland on Feb 18, while tying it versus Monmouth (2/20).
The Ocean Springs, Mississippi, native is second on the team in stolen bases, swiping 13-of-15, which has including twice stealing two in the same game - versus Georgia State (2/11) and Bethune-Cookman (3/4). Fox is also third on the team in on-base percentage (.339) as she has drawn a handful of walks and was hit by two pitches. She has also laid down four sacrifice bunts and had one sacrifice fly.
Fox joins current teammates
Jaime Tino (2018),
Lizzie Shubert (2018) and
Brianna Clary (2021), who were also named ASUN All-Freshmen, and is the 27th Hatter overall to be selected. Barring 2020, when the ASUN did not release a postseason team, Stetson has had at least one player on the all-freshmen team, and 20 over that 10-year span.
