Hatters take down North Florida, pick up first ASUN win

JACKSONVILLE, FL --The Stetson volleyball team rallied after losing the first set to secure a 3-1 win over the North Florida Lady Ospreys Saturday night at Historic Swisher Gymnasium.

The victory boosted the Hatters' record to 10-4 overall and 1-1 in ASUN play. UNF drops to 3-10 on the year with a 1-1 ASUN mark.

The Hatters were led by a double-double from Anabelle Standish, who registered 10 kills and 13 digs on the day. Alexis Thompson also added 10 kills to go along with a team-high four blocks. On the defensive end, Elena Djokovic chipped in for with 14 digs.

SET 1 | The Hatters found themselves in an early deficit, losing the first set 25-20. Stetson trailed by as many as six points as North Florida grabbed the advantage for good at 16-15 in a set that was knotted up five times before the Lady Ospreys took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 2 | Stetson evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-14 set-two win. The Hatters took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to earn the victory. Stetson opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 11 points, to close out the set. The Hatters hit .333 over the course of the set. The Stetson offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza. Stetson's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four North Florida attacks in the stanza.

SET 3 | Stetson built on that second-set success with a victory in set number three to open up a lead at two sets to one. The Hatters took the set 25-17 helped by a strong showing on the attacking side. Stetson put together a .302 attack percentage with 16 kills in the set win. The Hatters ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the stanza.

SET 4 | Stetson ended the match with a 25-23 fourth-set victory, winning their third straight set. The Hatters scored first and never trailed in the set to earn the victory. Stetson opened up as much as a five point lead at 11-6 before finishing off the stanza. Stetson also supplemented their offense with three aces in the set.
