Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Defeats Eastern Kentucky

Alexa LoBasso returned to the pitch and emphatically scored the winning goal for the Hatters, as they defeated the Colonels 1-0 Thursday afternoon.

"We executed the game plan to perfect," said Head Coach Chris Bergmann. "We finished our opportunities and worked collectively to control the game in the last ten minutes keeping our momentum. It was great to have LoBasso back and see her provide us with a big goal. Osborn was excellent in goal for us as well. This win continues to build momentum to keep us in the hunt."

Stetson would start the first half controlling possession as they turned great defense into opportunistic chances as they took seven shots in the first half forcing the Eastern Kentucky keeper to make some tough saves.

In the second half the Hatters would continue applying pressure before finding the back of the net. Stetson would draw a foul in the 61st minute of play with Lea Alexander taking the free kick. She would put the ball into the box where it would find its way onto the right foot of LoBasso who would be able to put it past the keeper for her third goal of the season. Mallory Osborn and the rest of the team would limit the Colonels opportunities as the team would earn their second clean sheet in a row. Osborn would add another six saves to her conference leading total of 115.

The Hatters will now take the ride over to Louisville to take on Bellarmine. Kick-off will be at 1pm on Sunday, October 15 at the Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
