Las Vegas, NV- The Hatters will face two tough opponents over the next few days in UNLV and Houston. Stetson will take on UNLV on Saturday November 11 at 7pm before hopping on a flight to play Houston on Monday, November 13 at 8pm.
Inside the Series
This will be the first time that Stetson will face off against UNLV and Houston. The Hatters found success against teams from larger conferences last year when they defeated both South Florida and Florida State.
Scouting the Hatters (1-0, ASUN 0-0)
Stetson has started the season 1-0 after defeating Trinity Baptist 109-54. Led by Jalon Blackmon with 21 points and going 4-7 from beyond the arc, the Hatters will look to really challenge two teams that have high aspirations. As a team, Stetson shot .518/.371/.667 overall and will look to duplicate their field goal percentage and 3-point percentage while increasing their free throw percentage.
Aubin Gateretse has been a force on the boards as last game he secured 15 rebounds while also adding ten points. He was the first Hatter to earn a double-double this season. Stetson was able to cut down on their turnovers from their exhibition to their first regular season game as they were able to build a 2.2/1 assist to turnover ratio. The team was also active defensively as they forced eight steals and made six blocks.
Scouting the Opponents (UNLV 0-1, Mountain West 0-0; Houston: 1-0, Big 12 0-0)
UNLV lost their season opener to Southern 85-71 at the Thomas and Mack Center which will soon host Stetson. The Rebels shot .426/.310/.667 overall. Isaiah Cottrell leads the team with 18 points going 4-6 from the field including 2-4 from beyond the arc. He also shot a team high 12 free throws in their game against Southern making eight of them. Cottrell also leads the team in rebounds with seven and blocks with four.
Houston has started the season 1-0 after defeating Louisiana Monroe by a score of 84-31 on November 6. Emanuel Sharp led the Cougars with 20 points against the Warhawks going 4-8 from beyond the arc. He was followed closely by Damian Dunn who scored 18 points with 9 of his coming from 3-point land. The rest of the Cougars only went 2 for 22 from three. J'Wan Roberts and Ramon Walker Jr. are tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven. Houston will host Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on Saturday, November 11 before the Hatters go into the Fertitta Center.

The Hatters will return home and participate in the Sunshine Slam at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. Their first-round matchup will be against Milwaukee on Monday, November 20 at 1:30pm.
