THE LEAD
The Hatters look to get back in the win column at home after a tough start on the road to begin the season. They host the Webber International Warriors for Community Day at 7:00 PM on Thur. Nov. 30 at the historic Edmunds Center for just their second home game of the season.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Stetson enters the matchup on a four game winning streak over the Warriors in the series. The two have only met four times as the Hatters have won all of them at home and have totaled 329 points across the series, 82.25 points per game. The two first met on Dec. 5, 2014 when the Hatters dominated on their way to a 90-27 victory. They last met on Nov. 30, 2018 when Stetson again won 80-52.
SCOUTING THE HATTERS (1-6, 0-0 ASUN)
Stetson approaches the midweek matchup with an overall record of 1-6, having recently fallen to the Dayton Flyers and the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles during the Daytona Beach Classic. The Hatters will return home for just the second team since picking up their lone win of the season against the Iona Gaels on Nov. 18.
The offensive charge for Stetson is led by
Jamiya Turner, who maintains a team-leading average of 13.3 points per game after dropping a career-high 20 points against Dayton. Turner showcases a 43.8 percent shooting accuracy from the field (35 of 80) and a 79.3 percent from the free-throw line, eighth best in the ASUN.
Jordan Peete, with six starts this season, averages 9.7 points per game, making a team-high 7 of 20 shots from beyond the arc.
Khamya McNeal Promise Keshi has been a key piece in the rotation as they averages 9.0 and 4.4 points, the former tying a season-high 15 points in her last outing.
Keshi leads the team in steals, contributing 12 steals, tied for third most in the conference.
Jaelyn Talley has excelled on the glass, leading the Hatters with 48 total rebounds, 6.9 per game. Her 27 offensive rebounds rank second most in the ASUN and she ranks third most in total boards.
Skylar Treadwell also has 40 rebounds on the season after grabbing 21 against High Point earlier this season.
As a team, Stetson averages 55.6 points per game, as opposed to a conference fourth lowest points allowed (63.7), on 146-411 shooting from the field (35.5%) and 25-107 from three-point range. They exhibit a conference fourth-best free-throw percentage of 70.6 percent (72-102) and boast an ASUN fourth-highest 244 total rebounds, 34.9 rebounds per game. Stetson has forced opponents into 119 turnovers and capitalized on them with 13.6 points off turnovers.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS (1-4, 0-0 SUN)
Webber International enters the game with a current record of 1-4, most recently experiencing a 62-107 loss to #9 Rio Grande (Ohio) on Nov. 11. In the 2023-24 Preseason Coaches' Poll, they were selected 5th with 24 points, following an 11-16 season (8-8 in conference).
Webber International averaged 62.2 points per game last season but has encountered challenges in the early part of the current season, being outscored by an average of 22.4 points in their first five games. As a team, they have a shooting percentage of 38.8% from the field (11-4 of 294) and 21.4% from beyond the arc (18-84). Rebounding at an average of 32.8 per game and distributing 12.8 assists, Webber International showcases solid team play.
On the defensive end, they have faced struggles, allowing opponents to shoot 45.8% from the field (154-336) and 35.4% from three-point range (35-99), both lows for the SUN Conference. With 13 blocks and 37 steals, their defensive efforts remain crucial towards the rest of the season
Key offensive contributors for Webber International include junior guard Jermasia Klopsis and graduate guard Samantha Pacheco. Both have started all five games, averaging 13 and 12 points, respectively, ranking 8th and 11th in the conference. Klopsis has a shooting percentage of 42.2%, going 23 of 52, and leads the team with 11 steals. Pacheco, tied for a team-leading four made three-pointers, stands out with 28 assists, averaging 5.6 per game, the most in the conference.
In the frontcourt, sophomore forward Jaiden Ross contributes an average of 8.4 points per game, boasting a conference-high 63% shooting accuracy. With a team-high 4.6 rebounds per game, Ross adds a strong presence in the paint. Graduate forward Triniti Lee, averaging 4.2 rebounds per game, leads the team with 5 blocks, adding a defensive dimension to Webber International's lineup.
