DeLand, Fla. – Despite a strong third quarter, the Hatters fell short in their regular season finale to Jacksonville State 50 to 57 at the Edmunds Center Wednesday afternoon.
Jacksonville State went on a 12-0 run in the middle of the second quarter to open up the game to lead the Hatters 30-18. Despite falling behind at halftime, Stetson had a strong defensive effort in the third quarter to hold Jacksonville State to just two made field goals. The strong defensive third quarter pulled the Hatters within two 34-36.
Although Stetson made it a close game to close out the third quarter, ultimately it was not enough to defeat Jacksonville State. Kennedy Gavin from Jacksonville State led all scorers with 23. The Hatters were paced by Jaelyn Talley who had 14 points, while Jamiya Turner and Khamya McNeal each had 11.
Stetson will return to action this weekend in the ASUN Conference Tournament, when and where they play is still to be determined as the rest of the conference finishes up regular season play.
