DeLand, Fla – Stetson men's rowing hosted the Hatter Invitational this past Saturday featuring Tufts University, UCF and Embry-Riddle.
All races were run in a double-dual format with a distance of 2,000 meters. In the first varsity eight Stetson would finish just shy of four seconds behind Tufts University time of 5:49.3, with a time of 5:53.0. Tufts 2V would finish behind Stetson with a time of 6:06.4.
"The guys did a good job in some tough conditions today. I think we got the best glimpse of their potential early in the day against Tufts, which we're excited to see. Tufts looks to be fast this year and we tried a new lineup that put
Lucas Quinby in the stroke seat and that seems to be working well," said Stetson head coach
Jamie Francis.
Stetson ran against Florida Institute of Technology in their second varsity eight race of the day. The Hatters finished behind FIT's 6:03.1 with a 6:10.5.
"We weren't able to produce the second time down the course against FIT, but I think we know what adjustments need to be made and hope to have a better showing next weekend in Sarasota," Francis said.
Stetson will head to Sarasota this weekend March 31-April 1 to compete in the FIRA State Championship.
