Oak Ridge, TN – The Stetson men's rowing team competed in day one of the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Championship, rowing in the two, the varsity eight and second varsity eight.
In the men's two, Stetson won their time trial with a 6:34.402,
Matthew Clendening and
Vincent Leffler were in the boat for the Hatters.
In the varsity eight Stetson placed fifth with a time of 5:27.161 and then followed it up with a semifinal time of 6:21.663.
Both boats, the men's two and varsity eight will be competing in Sunday's finals. The men's two will compete at 8:30 a.m. with the varsity eight set to race at 11:52 a.m.
"The guys had a great showing today. The pair won their time trial to set themselves up for the grand final tomorrow. The eight had a strong time trial and a very exciting semifinal to also earn a spot in the grand final tomorrow. Both boats have executed their best racing this weekend and we're excited to see how they do in tomorrow's finals," said Stetson head coach
