It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the tragic death of a beloved member of our community, student and Hatter football player Trenton "Trent" Stewart.
Trent had just finished his first year at Stetson as a Cybersecurity major and had returned home to Saint Johns, Florida. Sadly, Tuesday morning he was involved in a car accident.
A football player on the defensive line, Trent was named to the Fall 2022 Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll and planned to return to campus this summer to work out with the team.
"On behalf of the entire Stetson football family, today is truly a sad day," said Head Football Coach Brian Young. "We have lost a young man who exemplified what it means to be a Stetson Hatter. Our hearts go out to his teammates, family and the entire Stetson community. We have lost a brother, teammate and friend. He will always be a Hatter."
We are in communication with Trent's family who are very grateful for his Stetson experience and support.
