DELAND, FLA- The Stetson Hatters will return to the court this weekend when they travel to Statesboro Georgia for the Eagle Invitational. The tournament will take place on September 1 and 2. Stetson will play against College of Charleston at 12:30pm and George Washington at 4:00pm on September 1. On September 2 the Hatters will face off against Georgia Southern.
History
Stetson will be facing College of Charleston for the sixteenth time. The last time the Hatters and Cougars played each other was 2014. Stetson will be playing George Washington for the first time in this tournament. The Hatters and Eagles of Georgia Southern will be facing off for the twelve time. The Hatters are 6-5 against the Eagles. The teams last played in 2022 where the Hatters won 3-0.

Leilani Vitale appeared in all twelve sets the Hatters played. Groom and Standish earned All-Tournament team honors. Molina earned ASUN Setter of the Week and Groom also earned ASUN Defensive Player of the Week.
Scouting the Opponents
The Cougars of College of Charleston are 1-2 on the season with sixteen different players seeing the court. Junior Anna Smith leads the team with 38 kills followed by Graduate Student Lexi Wierzbicki with 35 kills. Senior Sofie Vogel leads the team with 11 total blocks. Wierzbicki was also named to the Preseason All-CAA Team. The Cougars will play against The Citadel, Tuesday August 29 at 6:00pm.
George Washington starts the season 0-2 after dropping games to American University and Howard University. GW has added five newcomers to their roster. Graduate Student Grace Wiczek and Junior Brittany Myers lead the team with 18 kills apiece.
Georgia Southern has started the season 2-0 beating East Carolina and UNCG at home. The Eagles have brought in Ally Barnhart who transferred from South Florida. They will also be returning Rebekah Farthing, Callaway Cason, Chamblee Russell and Ainsley Clifford. Freshman Reagan Barth leads the team with 20 kills. Sophomore Kirsten Barrett leads the team with 30 assists. Sophomore Ailie Hair leads the team with nine total blocks.
