Hatters Start Out 2-0 In ASUN Play

The Hatters finish off the weekend 2-0 in conference play as they defeat the Dolphins 3-1. 
 
Stetson captured the first set 25-21. The set started off as a battle until Jacksonville went on a 6-1 lead to go up 14-12. The Hatters battled back on a 4-0 run with kills coming Selin Kalkan and Sophia Groom. Stetson finished the set off on a three-point scoring run with kills from Anabelle Standish, Nyah Molina, and Amaris Carter
 
The Hatters carried that momentum into the second set as they would start off on a 6-0 run encapsulated by a powerhouse kill from Standish. The Dolphins did not go away as late in the set they as they went on a 3-point scoring run to make the score 23-20. The Hatters would get kills from Carter and Standish to end the set with a score of 25-20.
 
Stetson slumped a bit in the third set as the Dolphins took an early lead and ran away with it 25-17.
 
Despite the third set setback, the Hatters came out on fire in the fourth set as they went on four different scoring runs. Standish would score three out of the last four points for Stetson as they won a dominating set four 25-16. 
 
Standish was the lone Hatter with a double-double as she finished the match with 10 digs and a team leading 14 kills. Molina once again led the Hatters in assists with 29. Groom finished the match with a season best ten total blocks. Haruka Sugimoto led the team with 21 digs, many of which came in helping the Hatters secure the win in the fourth set. 
 
The Hatters will travel up to Georgia on Friday September 29 as they take on Kennesaw State. The match will be at 7pm at the KSU Convocation Center.
