DeLand, Fla. – Stetson looks to rebound after a tough loss at home against Chicago State as they head down to Fort Myers to take on Florida Gulf Coast. The game on Saturday, Jan. 20 will tip off at 7pm with the Hatters looking to earn their fourth conference win.
History
The Hatters and Eagles have matched up 36 times with Stetson coming out on top 12 times. The last matchup between the two was on Feb. 18, 2023, with the Hatters winning 88-84 down in Fort Myers. The first game was back on Jan. 11, 2008 which the Hatters also won by a score of 70-62.
Scouting the Hatters (11-7, ASUN 3-1)
Stetson lost their first game in the state of Florida earlier this week and will be looking to turn that around. Three different Hatters registered double-digit points in that game but they fell short 70-77.
Jalen Blackmon leads the team in scoring averaging 21.5 points per game. Even though his shooting percentages have dipped he is still in the top 10 in the ASUN in field goal and three point shooting percentage while leading the conference in free throw shooting.
Stephan Swenson continues to rack up the assists while also contributing more points. Swenson now has 116 assists and averages 12.4 points per game.
Alec Oglesby has had the hot hand lately. He currently ranks second in the ASUN in three point shooting percentage at 43.8% while averaging 11.7 points per game.
Aubin Gateretse leads the Hatters with 7.4 rebounds followed by
Josh Smith with 5.4.
Stetson ranks send overall in free throw percentage in the NCAA hitting at an 81.1% clip although they have been shooting below average the last two games. The team is shooting 46.3% from the field and 37.6% from beyond the arc. The team is averaging 10 three points made per game which reflects in their average points per game of 78.
Scouting the Eagles (7-12, ASUN 1-3))
The Eagles are led by Zach Anderson who is scoring 13.2 points per game while shooting 48% from the field and 51% from three. Keeshawn Kellman Florida Gulf Coast in rebounds with 7.1 per game followed by Anderson with 5.5 per game. The Eagles are averaging 69.2 points per game while surrendering just almost 73 per game. They shoot almost 8 three-pointers per game and 12 shots from the free throw line.
