DeLand, Fla. – Stetson looks to rebound after back to back losses as they host Austin Peay and Lipscomb. The games will take place at 7pm on Thursday, Jan. 25 and 2pm on Saturday, Jan. 27.
History
Stetson defeated Austin Peay in their first ever meeting on February 22, 2023 by a score of 76-51. The Hatters and Bisons have faced off 44 times with Stetson going 18-26. The first meeting between the two took place on December 19, 1962 in DeLand with the Hatters winning 67-59. The most recent game was on February 28, 2023.
Scouting the Hatters (11-9, ASUN 3-2)
Stetson has dropped to 3-2 in conference play after their loss at FGCU. The team will look to return to its usually shooting numbers in their games this week.
Jalen Blackmon leads the team in scoring averaging 21.3 points per game. Even though his shooting percentages have dipped he is still in the top 10 in the ASUN in field goal and three point shooting percentage while leading the conference in free throw shooting.
Stephan Swenson continues to command the floor as he has tallied 122 assists while averaging 12 points per game.
Aubin Gateretse leads the Hatters with 7.2 rebounds followed by
Josh Smith with 5.5.
Stetson is shooting 45.9% from the field and 37.1% from beyond the arc. The team is averaging 9.7 three points made per game which reflects in their average points per game of 76.3.
Scouting the Governors (10-10, ASUN 3-2))
DeMarcus Sharp leads the Governors in points per game with 18, rebounds a game with 7.2, assists with 93, steals with 45 and is second on the team in blocks with 18. Austin Peay as a team averages just over 70 points per game while allowing 68. They are shooting 43% from the field and 34.5% from three.
Scouting the Bisons (12-8, ASUN 3-2)
Derrin Boyd leads Lipscomb in scoring averaging 16.4 points per game while Joe Anderson leads the team in assists with 73. Will Pruitt is the leader in rebounds averaging 5.9 per game with Dylan Faulkner protecting the paint totaling 27 blocks. Lipscomb as a team averages 81 points per game while giving up 75. They are shooting 48.5% from the field and 36.8% from beyond the arc.
