GAME NOTES
THE LEAD
The Stetson Hatters are riding a two-game win streak after picking up a pair of conference wins over Queens and Austin Peay. The latter of the two was the first of a three game road trip for the Hatters and was one of their best defensive games of the season, limiting the Governors to just 42 points. Stetson will stay in the Volunteer State as they take on the Lipscomb Bisons in Nashville on Saturday, Jan. 27. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM ET at Allen Arena with all the action being streamed on ESPN+.

INSIDE THE SERIES
This will be the 41st meeting between the ASUN foes as Stetson currently holds a 28-12 record over the Bisons. From 2011 to 2019, the Hatters won 18 consecutive games against Lipscomb but the Bisons have had the upper hand as of late, winning four of the last five meetings. They last met on Feb. 18, 2023 when Lipscomb won 68-52 at the Edmunds Center. The series dates all the way back to 2002, however, when the Bisons won the inaugural meeting on Dec. 29 77-61. The split between home and away is nearly identical as the Hatters hold a 14-5 home record and a 14-6 record in Nashville. Throughout the rivalry, Stetson has scored 2,794 total points, 69.85 points per game.

SCOUTING THE HATTERS (9-11, 4-2 ASUN)
Stetson approaches the matchup with an overall record of 9-11, having recently picked up a road win over the Austin Peay Governors on Thursday night.

The win was the Hatters second straight as they now hold a 4-2 conference record and 9-11 overall. After beginning the season 0-6 on the road, the Hatters have now won their last three road games. Additionally, the 42 points allowed by the defense was the lowest yielded to an opposing team since the 83-37 win over Webber International on Nov. 30.

Leading the Hatters on offense in their last game was Jamiya Turner, who posted 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting. The redshirt-senior guard also added five rebounds and two assists to her final stat line.

So far this season, the offensive output for Stetson has been fronted by Turner, who maintains a team-leading 223 points, 11.2 per game. Turner showcases a 44.3 percent shooting accuracy from the field (86 of 194) and a 66.2 percent clip from the free-throw line. The redshirt-senior has reached milestones such as 500 career rebounds and 1,000 career points as she has racked up double-figures for the 13th time this season and 5+ boards for the 11th time.

As a team, Stetson averages 58.1 points per game, as opposed to a conference third fewest average points allowed (60.4), on 429-1146 shooting from the field (37.4%) and 76-348 from three-point range. They boast an ASUN fourth-most 738 total rebounds, 36.9 rebounds per game. Stetson has forced opponents into 342 turnovers and capitalized on them with 12.5 points off turnovers. In their last win, graduate forward Quentarra Mitchell recorded six steals, the most in a game by anybody this season.

SCOUTING THE BISONS (11-8, 4-2 ASUN)
Lipscomb currently holds a record of 11-8, sitting 5th place in the ASUN Conference standings after dropping their last game to Florida Gulf Coast University. Their season has been filled with tough competition, taking on the likes of #18 Indiana, Vanderbilt and Kentucky. The Bisons are currently 4-2 in conference play after starting play with a pair of wins over EKU and Bellarmine.

In the 2023-24 Preseason Coaches' Poll, the coaches selected Lipscomb to finish in second with 128 points after finishing the prior season with an 13-5 conference record. Looking to build off of an 20-12 campaign last season, the Bisons average 67.9 points per game and have outscored their opponents by an average of 3.4 points.

As a team, they have a shooting percentage of 40.6 percent from the field (478-1178) and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc (148-444). The Bisons are rebounding at an average of 39.1 per game with a +1.2 margin and they are distributing 11.9 assists a game.

On the defensive end, they've allowed opponents to shoot 39.4 percent from the field (454-1153) and 29.9 percent from three-point range (122-408), both fifth in the ASUN. The defense has also forced 285 turnovers, scoring 14.1 points off them, while tallying 124 steals and 61 blocks.

NEXT UP
Stetson will finish their road trip with a stop in the Bluegrass State to take on Eastern Kentucky. Tip-off against the Colonels is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at the Baptist Health Arena in Richmond, KY.
