Box Score Jacksonville, Fla. – Stetson Volleyball fell to North Florida Friday evening in five sets. The Hatters won the first two sets, but could not withstand an Osprey rally.
The Hatters opened the first set falling behind 3-0 before coming back to tie it at six. Stetson then went on a 10-0 scoring run to open a 16-6 lead that they never relinquished. They took the set 25-19.
Set two started in a similar fashion with Stetson falling behind early. The team was able to chip away and take the lead on a three-point scoring run. Each time the Hatters pulled away the Ospreys reeled them back in. Stetson continued to inch forward though, and
Kayla Balfour clinched the second set 25-21.
Stetson dropped the third and fourth sets 25-22 to tie the match at two. They then fell in the fifth set 15-7.
Anabelle Standish led the team in kills with 19 followed by
Jenna Simmons with 16.
Elif Yasar in her return to the court tallied a career high 44 assists. The Hatters had five players in double figures for digs with
Haruka Sugimoto leading the way with 27.
Stetson will now look to regroup before their match on Saturday, October 5 again Jacksonville. The match will begin at 5:00pm.
