DeLand, Fla. – Stetson is coming off 61-60 nail-biting victory over Florida Gulf Coast University.
Aubin Gateretse led the way for the Hatters, recording a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Stetson will look to continue their win streak as they host Queens on Thursday and Kennesaw State on Saturday.
History
Stetson and Queens have played twice with the two teams splitting the series. They most recently played on January 12, 2024, in Charlotte with the Hatters coming out on top 84-66. The two teams first met on Jan. 28, 2023.
Stetson and Kennesaw State have faced off 36 times with the Hatters winning 16 of them. The teams last met on Jan. 10, 2024. They first played on Jan. 21, 2006.
Scouting the Hatters (16-10, ASUN 8-3)
Stetson is in second in the Atlantic Sun standings at 9-3. The Hatters were able to clinch a berth for the ASUN Championship before their victory over the Eagles. Gateretse's double-double led the Hatters with
Stephan Swenson being the only other player on the team in double figures with 11 points.
Jalen Blackmon continues to lead the Hatters in scoring averaging 20.5 points per game. Swenson is averaging 12.3 points per game and 6.1 assists per game. He is 28 points away from reaching the 1000 points milestone. Gateretse leads the Hatters in rebounds averaging 7.5 while also scoring 11.4 points per game. He also has the team lead in blocks with 39. In the win over FGCU, Gateretse logged his eighth double-double of the season.
Stetson is shooting 46% from the field and 36.3% from beyond the arc. The team is averaging 9.3 three points made per game which reflects in their average points per game of 76.5. The team has a 5.4 scoring margin by holding opponents to 71.1 points per game.
Scouting the Royals (11-17, ASUN 5-8)
The Royals are coming off of a 74-65 win over Jacksonville University. As a team Queens is shooting 44.7% from the field, 33.6% from three and 70.5% from the free throw line. They average 80.3 points per game while giving up a hair over 82. AJ McKee leads the Royals in scoring as he averages 18.4 points per game. He also leads the team in steals with 50. BJ McLaurin is the team leader in rebounds averaging 5.9 per game. Deyton Albury is right behind him with 5.8 rebounds per game.
Scouting the Owls (14-13, ASUN 5-8)
Kennesaw State is coming off an 81-82 loss against North Florida. As a team, Kennesaw State is shooting 44.5% from the field, 32.7% from three and 68% from the free throw line. They average 83.5 points per game while allowing 80.4. Terrell Burden leads the Owls averaging 16.7 points per game. He also leads the team in assists with 169 and steals with 43. Desmond Robinson is the presence in the paint for Kennesaw State. He averages a team leading 7.4 rebounds a game and leads the team in blocks with 25.

The Hatters will embark on the road for their final two games of the regular season. They will take on Jacksonville on Wednesday February 28 and North Florida on Friday, March 1. Both games will tip-off at 7pm.
