The Hatters fell to #4 Washington 2-1, and #8 Oklahoma State 11-6, Wednesday evening.

Hannah Marien was in the circle for the Hatters against Washington. She sat the Huskies down in order, but Washington returned the favor in the bottom of the first. The Huskies struck first on a solo home run from the first batter of the inning. Marien would keep them from adding another run. The bottom of the 2
nd inning saw
Annabella McClerren get hit by a pitch and then
Lath Freeman singled through the right side of the infield making it first and third.
Marissa Baxter found the same hole as Freeman on the right-side bringing home McClerren to tie the game at 1.
Briana Robinson came up next for the Hatters and tried to squeeze a run in, but the runner was thrown out at home keeping the game knotted. The Huskies added another run in the top of the third to take a 2-1 lead. Neither team was able to push another run across and the Hatters fell 2-1. Marien went the distance and struck out seven Huskies.

In game two,
Lauren Hobbs was in the circle for Stetson. The Cowgirls struck first scoring a run in the top of the first. The Hatters quickly answered in the bottom of the inning.
Addison Foster started off by lining a single off the pitcher and stole second.
Kami Eppley stepped into the box and crushed a two-run home run to left center giving the Hatters a 2-1 lead. Freeman made it three straight hits for the Hatters. McClerren was the next player to get on base with a single putting runners on first and second.
Michelle DiPuma shot a ball into left center loading the bases for
Haley Fox. Fox smoked one up the middle plate two more runs extending the Hatters' lead to 4-1. Stetson struck again in the bottom of the 2
nd. Foster singled up the middle and Eppley hit a ground ball to short. The shortstop from Oklahoma State threw the ball past the second baseman. Foster came around to score and Eppley ended up on third base. Freeman got a base knock up the middle. Eppley came into score and Stetson now had a 6-1 lead. Oklahoma State got one back in the top of the third and switched pitchers for the bottom half of the inning. The Cowgirls added six runs in the sixth and two in the seventh. The Hatters were unable to push any more runs across falling 11-6. Eppley's home run was her first of the season and Foster picked up her first three him game in her young collegiate career.Â

The Hatters will welcome Long Island, Maryland and Green Bay to Patricia Wilson for the Stetson Invitational this weekend. Stetson will take on Long Island and Maryland on Friday, Feb. 23 at 3pm and 5:30pm respectively.Â
