DeLAND, Fla. - The Stetson University WBB team will host Austin Peay State at the Edmunds Center on Saturday night. Tip-off for the ASUN Championship Quarterfinals between the #2 Hatters and the #7 Governors is scheduled for 6:00 PM with all the action on ESPN+
The two last met on Jan. 25 when the Hatters picked up a decisive 51-42 road win.
Jamiya Turner led the Hatters with 12 on 50 percent shooting in the contest while the 42 points allowed by the defense was the lowest amount scored against the Hatters by a conference team this season.
The win pushed the Hatters ahead in the series 2-1 as they now enter the postseason contest with a two game win streak over the Governors and a two-game win streak on the season.
Stetson women's basketball's all-time winningest head coach added another accolade to her already impressive resume. After leading Stetson to the #2 seed in the conference tourney, Bria was awarded the prestigious ASUN Coach of the Year title. It was her second time winning the award at the helm of Stetson, last winning in 2017, but her third all-time honor by the conference, having been name Coach of the Year in 1999 with UCF.
This year's squad went 17-13 in the regular season with a 12-4 mark in conference play.
The Hatters started the season with a 5-9 record before conference play started which saw Stetson post a 7-1 record on the road during ASUN action.
Bria wasn't the only Hatter to earn postseason recognition. Turner and McNeal were both All-Conference selections, the latter of the two having previously been named to the Preseason All-ASUN team.
Turner started all 30 games this season and led the team with 332 total points, 11.1 per game, on 44.5 percent shooting. The redshirt-senior also grabbed 162 total rebounds, 5.4 per game, while dishing out a team-leading 61 assists. On defense, the Orlando native led with 34 steals while blocking seven shot attempts. She tallied double-figures in 19 games this year while pulling in five or more rebounds on 19 occassions, as well.
McNeal appeared in all 30 games, making 18 starts, while averaging 9.6 points per contest. The Milwaukee native went 98 of 261 from the field, 37.5 percent, with 35 of her shots coming from behind the arc, a team-high. Notably, her last second shot on the road at Eastern Kentucky led to a Hatters win. She also recorded 47 assists and 92 rebounds, 3.1 per game.
