The Hatters dropped the third and final games of the series against Jacksonville Sunday afternoon 3-2.
Stetson struggled to start the game as
Lauren Hobbs hit two batters and
Michelle DiPuma made an error. The Dolphins put up two runs in the top of the first to take an early lead.
In the bottom half of the inning
Addison Foster led off with a single down the left field line and was moved to second on a ground out by
Madelyn Synoracki.
Lath Freeman and
Annabella McClerren each drew a walk loading the bases for
Kami Eppley. Eppley reached on a fielder's choice and plated Foster to make it 2-1.
Neither team scored in the second or third inning but in the top of the fourth inning Jacksonville tacked on another run. In the bottom half of the inning DiPuma singled to center field and Stanfill walked. English centered to center field and the runners moved station to station. DiPuma came in to score on a wild pitch that was a close play at the plate, but she was able to sneak her foot in there to make it 3-2.
The Hatters couldn't bring in another run leaving runners on second and third.
Caitlyn Kulczyski shut down the Dolphins the rest of the way giving Stetson a chance in the bottom of the seventh.
Lath Freeman came up with an opportunity similar to last week against Eastern Kentucky and the result was almost the exact same. She blasted one to center field, but the center fielder brought it in at the top of the wall to keep the Hatters from walking it off.
Stetson will now head down to FGCU on Saturday April 20 for a double header starting at 2pm.
