Box Score 2 FORT MYERS, FLA.-The Hatters fell to FGCU 4-1 and 5-4 Saturday afternoon.
In the first game of the series, the Eagles scored a run in the bottom of the first.
Marissa Baxter tied things up in the top of the second by bringing in
Annabella McClerren on a single up the middle. FGCU scored three more runs in the bottom of the third. The Hatters couldn't get any more runs across as they fell 4-1.
After a scoreless first inning to start game two, the Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the second. The Hatters took the lead in the top of the fourth inning scoring three runs.
Lath Freeman singled up the middle before
Michelle DiPuma was brought on to pinch run. McClerren moved DiPuma over to second with a sacrifice bunt.
Kami Eppley singled through the right side moving DiPuma to third and Eppley promptly stole second.
Evette Morgan singled to shortstop but the runners were unable to advance. Baxter brought in the first two runs as her ground ball to third caused an error giving Stetson a 2-1 lead.
Nadia English tacked on another run when she singled through the right side making it 3-1.
The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning tying the game up at three and scored in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead. In the top of the sixth the Hatters tied the game up when English tallied her second RBI single of the game. FGCU added one more run in the bottom of the sixth as the Hatters fell 5-4.
Stetson and FGCU will conclude the three-game series Sunday, April 21 at 1pm.
