Gennes and Blanco named to Second Team All-ASUN

Gennes also earned Academic All-ASUN honors

ATLANTA - Stetson's Tim Gennes and Eder Blanco were named as Second Team All-ASUN selections as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon. The duo was named as honorees following a 16-5 season by the Hatters including a 6-3 conference record.

Gennes, a graduate from Aachen, Germany, finished the campaign with a singles record of 8-1 at Flight 4 in conference play. Furthermore, Gennes achieved a record of 17-4 in singles play throughout the season which included 17 straight victories. He also saw success in doubles, playing alongside Sami Ozzor, the two recorded a 3-1 record.

After assisting the team as a Volunteer Assistant Coach last season, Gennes returned to the court for his fifth season with the team. Throughout his tenure at Stetson, he has compiled a career record of 54-24 with 19 doubles wins. He was also honored by the Atlantic Sun Conference for his work off the court, as well. Gennes was named to the Academic All-ASUN team for the second time in his career after earning a cumulative 4.0 GPA while working on towards an MBA after majoring in finance as an undergraduate.

Joining Gennes on the All-ASUN Second Team was Blanco, a junior from Madrid, Spain. Blanco made an immediate impact for the Hatters after making his way to DeLand from North Carolina A&T. In his first season at Stetson, he held a conference record of 7-2 in Flight 3 while recording a 15-6 total record on the year. Pairing with Ervin Haris Eminefendic, the duo went 11-6 in #3 doubles and 11-6 in total.

"Happy for Tim and Eder, certainly a nice recognition for all the hard work that they've been putting in this semester and their success on and off the court," said Head Coach Christophe Noblet. "Hopefully this will give them an extra boost of confidence heading into the tournament this weekend and helping them play some great tennis."

The Hatters now have their eyes set on the ASUN Championship which takes place this weekend at the FGCU Tennis Complex in Fort Myers, Fla. from Apr 19 (Fri) Apr 21 (Sun).
