FORT MYERS, FLA. - Stetson softball fell to Florida Gulf Coast 3-2 Sunday afternoon.
The Hatters jumped on the board early when
Lath Freeman singled to center field bringing
Addison Foster around to score.
Lauren Hobbs gave up two hits in the bottom half of the first but was able to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard. In the top of the 2
nd, Foster doubled to left center bringing
Gia Napoli to the plate from first to give Stetson a 2-0 lead. Hobbs got Florida Gulf Coast to go 1-2-3 in the bottom half.
The Eagles got one off Hobbs in the bottom of the third before
Hannah Marien came in to pitch in the fourth. FGCU tallied two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and the Hatters trailed 3-2. In the top of the seventh, Stetson had the tying run on third with one out but were unable to push the run across falling 3-2.
The Hatters will return home and host FIU on Wednesday April 24 at 3pm.
