Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hatters Drop Game to USF

Women's Soccer fell to South Florida 0-2, Sunday night.

The Hatters fought through the Bulls' pressure in the first half as the defense and goalkeeper Ashleigh Wise were up to the task. The back line was able to fight off runs down the sides from South Florida and Wise saved all four shots on goal that she saw.

Offensively, the Hatters worked to take advantage of a couple miscues by the Bulls including one where Lea Alexander was able to work her way into the box after intercepting a pass but her shot went of the opposing goalkeeper's foot. A couple of minutes later, Alexander had another opportunity, but it went just over the net.

Wise made two huge saves to keep the Bulls off the board as the teams went into halftime scoreless.

Right away in the second half the Bulls brought pressure as a save from Wise bounced out of her hands when her defender bumped into her and the ensuing shot from South Florida would have gone in if not for Bryn Forchic who cleared it out on the goal line. The Bulls scored twice in the second half to take the lead.

Stetson only got one shot in the second half, and it very nearly went in. A free kick that just didn't bend enough to sneak in on the back post.

Stetson will now begin their conference schedule, hosting Jacksonville on Thursday, September 19. That match is slated to kickoff at 7pm.
