DeLAND, Fla. – For the third consecutive week, the Stetson Hatters have earned a conference honor, as senior defender Andres Rodriguez was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Rodriguez, a native of Mexico City, earned his first weekly award after scoring his first career goal in Stetson's 2-0 win over FGCU on Saturday night. Earlier in the week, he tallied an assist in the Hatters' 3-2 loss to Eckerd, before finding the net in the 74th minute to help secure the shutout victory against FGCU.
Rodriguez contributed 65 minutes off the bench against Eckerd before returning to the starting lineup against FGCU, where he played a full 90 minutes for the fourth time this season.
He is the fourth Hatter to receive a weekly award this year and the second to earn ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honors, joining Giuseppe Croce, who was recognized on September 16.
Stetson will be back in action on the road Saturday, October 5, at 7:00 p.m. when they face the Jacksonville Dolphins.
